In the UAE, an Emirates ID carries proof of one's official residency and it's also used for other services such as applying for a sim card, using government services, buying a car, etc.

On average, it takes anywhere between 7 to 10 days to get an Emirates ID.

But with the UAE replacing residency visa stamps on passports with the card, some expats and citizens may require their new Emirates ID sooner than anticipated.

Here is what you need to know about the 24-hour Emirates ID issuance service.
