Her husband put up a USD 100,000 reward for information on his wife's whereabouts

The story first appeared in Khaleej Times and The National.

An eight-months pregnant Dubai expat went missing earlier in February this year while holidaying in Maldives with her spouse, who is also a UAE resident.

Originally from Canada, 33-year old Giedre Vaskyte went to the beach alone for a swim, and was reported missing by her husband, Parmar Gursharanjit Singh. He was relaxing by the pool before her disappearance alerted him.

Local police conducted a search for five days, with officials concluding that the Dubai expat "likely drowned at sea".

The Maldives Police told The National: "A joint search operation was carried out by the Maldives National Defence Force, police, and resort staff."

The search operation included an aerial search, diving, and surface search.

"Our Investigation team has obtained strong evidence to believe she was lost in the sea and we do not have any evidence to think otherwise," added the police representative.

However, her family members are seeking further answers, putting up a reward of USD 100,00 (around AED 370,000) for anyone who can give her family information about her or help them find her.
