A full list of the confirmed and expected public holiday dates in 2023 for both the public and private sector have been released by the UAE Cabinet.

Will there be a UAE public holiday for New Year's 2023?

Yes, the UAE will have its annual New Year public holiday for both the public and private sectors. Those working on January 1, 2023 are entitled to a day off, and the first working day of the year will start on Monday, January 2nd, 2023.

When is the Eid Al Fitr public holidays?

After the Holy Month of Ramadan, the next public holiday in the UAE will take place for Eid Al Fitr from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3. The Eid Al Fitr break is expected to fall on Thursday, April 20 to Sunday April 23, 2023 and work/school will resume on Monday April 24. The actual dates are subject to the moon sighting.

The Eid Al Fitr 2023 break may be the longest public holiday for UAE employees this year.

When is the Arafat Day public holiday?

For 2023, the first day of Eid Al Adha is expected to fall on Tuesday, June 27 (Dhul Hijjah 9).

When is the Eid Al Adha public holidays?

The Eid Al Adha break might happen on Wednesday, June 28 to Friday, June 30 (Dhul Hijjah 10 to 12). In addition to Arafat Day, UAE residents who have a two-day weekend can expect a long weekend of up to five days!

When is Islamic New Year or Hijri New Year in the UAE?

According to the official UAE Cabinet schedule, Hijri New Year or Islamic New Year will take place on Friday, July 21, 2023. Residents can expect a three-day weekend!

However, the occasion is expected to fall on Wednesday July 19th, which could mean a short 3-day work week between Monday to Friday.

When is Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) birthday 2023?

Al-Mawlid Al-Nabawi, or Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) birthday, will happen on Friday, September 29, 2023.

When is UAE Commemoration Day in 2023?

On Friday, December 1, 2023, the nation will mark UAE Commemoration Day or UAE Martyr's Day to honour of the brave sacrifices made by the country's heroes to protect the UAE's freedom and peace.

When is UAE National Day 2023?

This is followed by the UAE’s 52nd National Day, which will be celebrated from Saturday, December 2 to Sunday, December 3. For UAE government and private employees, that's a three-day weekend starting from Commemoration Day until National Day!
