RTA's new car rental system aims to make the process in Dubai more hassle-free for both the customers and companies

Renting a car in Dubai is one of the best ways to explore the city.
To better serve and improve the car rental system for both drivers and car providers in the emirate, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the online Transportation Activities Rental System (TARS).
TARS acts as a smart rental contracts system between customers in Dubai and car rental companies, said RTA officials on Saturday.
It aims to bring more happiness to corporate and individual clients by improving the level of services provided to them.
"[The system] contains revised legislation and improved regulations that cover all car rental activities overseen by RTA," said Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA Licensing Agency.
"The system, in particular, applies to light vehicles, heavy vehicles, light buses, heavy buses, and motorbikes. It also streamlines the relationship between car rental companies and their clients," he added.
Road authorities have completed the development of the key features of the system and activated it for use by all companies, including completed the registration of all companies and entered up all valid contracts into the system.
The RTA has trained 989 car rental companies in Dubai on the use of the system and familiarised them with its features.
RTA will soon start training new car rental companies in Dubai that do not have systems of their own.
