Dubai Nol Card Increases Minimum Top Up Fare to 20 Dirhams

Previously, the minimum top up fare was AED 5.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that starting from 15th January 2024, the new minimum top up cost for Nol cards will be AED 20. Before the change, topping up your travel pass can be as low as AED 5.

Nol cards must also have a minimum balance of AED 15 so commuters can cover a round trip, an increase from the AED 7.50 minimum balance.

"#RTA is implementing a new nol card top up requirement of AED 20 only at Metro Station Ticket Offices as of January 15, 2024, to ensure a seamless navigation experience and minimise wait times," read a tweet from the official RTA Dubai X (formerly Twitter) account.

This applies to all commuters using the Gold, Silver, and/or Blue Nol cards. Top up machines can be found at any Dubai Metro station, near select bus stations and stops, or you can choose to top up your Nol card online.

Topping Up Your Dubai Nol Card Online

How to top up your RTA Nol card online?

  • Visit the official RTA top up nol card page.
  • Enter your Nol card's 10-digit number (Nol tag ID found in the back).
  • Enter your valid email address.
  • Confirm your payment details and pay.
  • The new amount will be marked as a pending balance after 45 minutes to 4 hours.

I topped up my Nol card online, why is my card balance not updated?

It's important to note that the amount you topped up online will remain pending and will not be added to your current card balance until you activate your Nol card. To activate your Nol card, you must use your Nol card at any Metro station date, online parking meter, solar top-up machine, or Nol pay application.

What is the maximum balance?

Non-registered Nol cards can carry a maximum balance of AED 1,000, and registered Nol cards can hold up to AED 5,000.

In order to activate the pending top up, please use your card in any online parking meter, metro gates, nol pay application or Solar Top-up Machines after 45 minutes to 4 hours to update your card balance.
