As the capital of the UAE preps itself for NYE

It has set in place a never-before-heard-of law for NYE in Abu Dhabi…

Trucks will not be allowed in Abu Dhabi from December 31, 2018, to January 2, 2019, Abu Dhabi police announced on Sunday.

If you’re wondering why this restriction has been put in place – it’s because the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi wants to ensure that the roads are safer for motorists in the city on New Year’s Eve.

Abu Dhabi Police said that the roads will be heavily monitored through intelligence systems and traffic patrols across the emirate.

Motorists are also advised to drive safely around the holiday time with or without the trucks on the road.

They are expected to drive with caution, within the speed limit, use their seatbelts and reduce any distractions while driving, or otherwise get fined by the Police.
