Coronavirus Qatar: Schools and Universities Suspended

As of 9th March, 3500 people in Qatar have been tested for Coronovirus and the number of confirmed cases is 18

The Qatar Government Communications Office (GCO) announced the decision to suspend public and private schools and universities for all students in Qatar from Tuesday, March 10th until further notice.

This is part of the efforts and measures taken by the State of Qatar to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) for the safety of students.

As a result, many extracurricular sports clubs and associations are suspending practice and events until further notice.

In addition, the Ministry of Administrative Development Labor and Social Affairs also announced the temporary suspension of nurseries in the country from March 10.

The Ministry of Public Health urges all citizens to avoid gatherings in public places and to avoid all but essential travel at this time.

Citizens are urged to wash their hands regularly with soap and water and/or use hand sanitizers.

The Ministry has set up a dedicated, round-the-clock call center to answer all questions and inquiries related to COVID-19. The toll-free hotline number is 16000.
