How Qatar Students Will Return to School From September 1

This upcoming school year in Qatar will see students from all kindergartens, public and private schools returning to their classrooms in three phases starting from 1st September, 2020.

This announcement came from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education on Thursday, with details of the three-stage plan as follows:

Phase One

Starting from 1st and lasting till 3rd September

  • Attendance of students will not exceed one-third of the people in the school in a day.
  • School timings: starting 7:15 am and end 12:30 pm, with six classes per day and 45-minute per each class, along with five minutes break time between classes.
  • 25-minute break is allotted during the school day.
  • Kindergartens maintain their usual daily schedule with working hours starting from 7:10 am until 12:00 pm.

Phase Two

From 6th to 17th September

  • Attendance cannot exceed 50% of students.
  • Alternating attendance will take place during the two weeks, split between two groups to ensure that 50 percent of the students attend the class in the first week and receive their education remotely in the following week.
  • The other half of the students will receive their education remotely in the first week and will attend the classroom in the second week.
  • School timings: starting 7:15 am and end 12:30 pm, with six classes per day and 45-minute per each class, along with five minutes break time between classes.
  • 25-minute break during the school day
  • Kindergartens maintain their usual daily schedule with working hours starting from 7:10 am until 12:00 pm.

Phase Three

Starting on September 20th

  • 100% of students and kindergartens will return across public and private schools.
  • Implementation of precautionary health and safety measures in accordance with the Ministry of Public Health requirements.
