Fire spread quickly on Sunday

The city of Dhofar in Oman witnessed a quickly spreading fire in a grassland area on Sunday.

It ripped through a vital farmland in the Sultanate, however, residents helped firefighters put out the fire successfully.

The fire fit the wilayat of Taqah in Dhofar – which is regarded as a vital farmland to raise livestock and grow crops for owners in the city.

But with swift actions and the heroic help of the public in Dhofar, the fire was put out soon after and no injuries were recorded due to this fire.

And a statement issued by the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) read, "the Department of Civil Defence and Ambulance in the Dhofar governorate managed to extinguish the fire."

Oman’s PACDA has been warning residents in Oman to avoid setting bonfires or bbq fires that are close to the grass or weeds.

They also warned against throwing lit cigarette buds on dry farmlands as they can quickly catch on fire and spread even quicker.
