Bahrain Issues New Rules and Regulations for Outdoor Training Activities

Athletes in Bahrain are required to follow these health and safety rules.

New COVID-19 health measures have been issued by the Bahraini Ministry of Health, to be practiced by facilities that focus on outdoor training activities. Guidelines are to be followed by registered processional athletes, in an effort to minimize the spread of the virus.

All fitness facilities in Bahrain must prepare a timetable for attendees and ensure training sessions are pre-booked, no walk-ins are allowed. Each pre-booked session must have a time slot allocated to ensure proper disinfection takes place between visiters, and each session cannot exceed five participants - including the trainer.

Ahead of each training slot, each individual must fill out a form provided by the club or federation, this addresses questions in relation to their previous 14-day period.

Form Questions Asked:

  • Name, contact number and address.
  • Are you experiencing, or have you experienced, any of the following symptoms (Fever, Cough, Fatigue, Shortness of breath, Loss of smell, Loss of taste, Sore throat)?
  • Do you live with anyone who’s under home-quarantine orders?
  • Have you been in contact with anyone exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or has been diagnosed with COVID-19?
  • If the individual answers 'yes' to any of the above questions, the facility must deny them access.

Temperature Checks

Each facility must ensure infrared thermometer checks take place upon the entry of staff and athletes, daily.
If a staff member or athlete is detected with a temperature of 37.5°C or higher, they must leave the premises immediately and call 444.

BeAware Bahrain App

“BeAware Bahrain” is a movement mobile application that assists efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus. It is now mandatory for all staff and athletes to have the Be Aware app downloaded onto their phones.

Those who do not have the app downloaded will automatically be denied entry to the facility.

Social Distancing Measures

Floors in each facility must be marked indicating a safe distance to ensure that social distancing is maintained at all times, a one-way traffic flow must also be established.

Face masks are to be worn at all times when inside the facility, individuals are only permitted to remove it when they are in open air. Those not abiding will be asked to leave the premises.
