Weekend Trips from Singapore

So we were away last weekend. Took a short trip to Seychelles and it was amazing! A break however short does wonders really! We're blessed to be in Dubai which is so central and makes these weekend trips possible.

For that matter Singapore is no different! The place is actually surrounded and at times a weekend destination is difficult to choose. These are the more "accessible", budget friendly options, which need not require more than your typical weekend!

Vacation

Sentosa island
Don't feel like traveling? Would like to get away but not really too far?

Sentosa islands provide the ideal downtime without the need for much planning! Drive down or take the cable cars and in minutes you're away - from the hustle bustle of the city, from the noise and to solitude!

Take a stroll on the Sentosa beach, pamper yourself at the award winning spas and indulge in the fresh catch of the day! Perfect!

Bintan islands
Bintan Island is part of Indonesia and a short boat ride from Singapore.

Take your pick between an upscale resort destination offering championship golf courses, private beaches and extensive water sports in the north or the less-developed beaches in the northeastern Trikora strip.

Enhance your trip with a trek to the south and walk through the Dutch colonial architecture and rich history.

Batam islands
A more affordable version on Bintan. Also located in the south seas of China and a part of Indonesia, it offers a break on a budget!

It's a popular destination among the families looking for fun water activities like parasailing and a top pick for the golfers!

Port Dickson
Located 90 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) a weekend road trip to Port Dickson is a popular option for many Singaporeans.

Prided mainly for its beaches, it is a perfect destination for a relaxed weekend with your family and loved ones.

With very little to do in this laid back town a morning or evening hike at Cape Rachado Lighthouse is one option to explore around.

Kuala Lumpur
Almost everyone is Singapore does this trip at least once.

As a city it is almost like Singapore at a slower pace. Besides it doesn’t come with a huge price tag either.

Just 2 hours from KL by road is Sunway Lagoon a haven for the young ones. The theme park has enough to keep the children and adults busy for an entire day! Win win!

Now what happens in Singapore is that should a public holiday fall on a Sunday, the following Monday is given as a holiday in lieu – which essentially means a Long Weekend! For those kinda weekends my Top 5 are:

Bali
The prefect beach getaway!

Love the vast beaches, the sea food, the massages!

A short flight of 2.30 takes you away from the city, closer to nature.

We had done the sunrise trek at Mount Batur 3 years ago, I have to say it still is the most stunning sunrise I have seen! Gorgeous.

Phuket
Another beach destination less than 2 hours by plane from Singapore but this time in Thailand.

Phuket, a mountainous island in the Andaman Sea, has some of Thailand’s most popular beaches, mostly situated along the clear waters of the western shore.

The island is home to many high-end seaside resorts, spas and restaurants.

Patong, the main town, has a more casual vibe and is filled with wild nightclubs, bars and discos which is much sought after by the local and tourists alike.

Hong Kong
For a city break, Hong Kong gets my vote!

It is very densely populated yes, but it has an energetic vibe to it as.

The yearend is magical to say the very least.

Plus the kids and the kid in you will love the HK Disney Land.

Also, it is a shoppers paradise this place! Are you booked yet?

Bangkok
I keep getting pulled back to Thailand I suppose.

But no one does a city break like Bangkok does - the food, massages, shopping, kids entertainment, the night life – all of them are A.W.E.S.O.M.E! Plus the Thai hospitality is beyond comparison.

Weekend cruise
Star cruises offer weekend cruise options for 2 or 3 nights and is the best way to take the exhausting traveling leg out of a getaway.

During the day you head to exploring the destination and while the ship is sailing you get to chill, relax and feast with a lot of activities going on every hour for everyone in the family.

Star cruises offer special rates to families and often have flash sales for the sailings on the immediate weekend.

So, what are your weekend plans???
