Singapore lands top spot for the second year in a row.

If you need another reason to convince you to visit Singapore, it's this! Singapore has been ranked as the happiest country in Asia this year, according to the World Happiness Report 2024.

The city-state has also been named as the 32d happiest country worldwide in 2021, 27th place in 2022, bumped up to 25th last year, and clinched the 30th spot for 2024.

The report is based on assessments of quality of life over three years (2021-2023) from various populations in 143 countries.

Top 10 happiest countries globally 2024

Finland topped worldwide as the happiest country in the globe, followed by Denmark and Iceland.

Israel, which has been occupying Palestine for decades and waging war on the country since October 2023, ranks as the world's fifth happiest. According to the World Happiness Report, the survey for Israel was taken "before much of the subsequent warfare".

Out of the 143 countries surveyed, the three least happiest countries listed in the report were Lesotho, Lebanon, and Afghanistan.

WHR is an annually released report and was first introduced in 2012 to support the United Nations' sustainable development goals and initiatives. Each year, the data is gathered from the World Bank, World Health Organisation, and the Gallup World Poll.
