Duran Duran’s Performance at the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival Left Media City Dancing

Yesterday thousands of people gathered at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre to kick-off the 16th edition of the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival and what a show it was! The line-up for the first night of the festival included Renegade Brass Band and world renowned British rock band, Duran Duran.
We got there early to ensure that we could find parking and was treated to all kinds of fun activities such as a small artistic market, a “Jamming in the shower” session, a number of food trucks and stalls to keep the liquids flowing.
Making our way to the stage and waiting for the first band, Renegade Brass Band, to start playing you could already feel the atmosphere building in the crowd. Eventually, our patience was rewarded as the first group came out.
Renegade Brass Band combined 8 horns with 2 percussionists, a scratch dj and a live mc to create a funk, hip-hop and jazz sound. Even though their music might not be everyone’s cup of tea, young and old were dancing along to the beats.
During the short break the crowd seem to have doubled every ten minutes, eventually leaving the Amphitheatre packed! The mood was truly something unique as everyone waited in anticipation for Duran Duran to start their performance.
We’re pretty sure that the whole of Dubai could hear the crowd cheering as Simon Le Bon and the rest of Duran Duran came on stage. They lived up to their reputation and we yet again can see how they are still so successful after so many years.
In the crowd young and old were dancing to Duran Duran with a couple of ladies letting their hair down. Right up until the end, the guys had everyone dancing and singing along to every song.
Renegade Brass Band and Duran Duran set the tone for the rest of the festival and it is only going to get better from here on!
The 16th edition of the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival is showing at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre from February 21st – 23rd, 2018.

Thursday, 22 February 2018:
- Opening act: China Moses
- Headlining act: John Legend
Friday, 23 February 2018:
- Opening act: Vera Ciocca
- Headlining act: Ricky Martin
The opening performance starts at 8:30 pm while the headlining performance will start at 10:30 pm.
