Most higher education learning will be remote, with limited attendance permitted in UAE campuses

Campus attendance will be limited to students who are required to do lab work and use other necessary facilities
UAE universities and colleges will not fully reopen this year, but instead conduct distance learning and partial in-person classes for students who need to be in campus.
According to the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE), campus attendance will be given priority to students who need to use university facilities such as laboratories.
HE Hussain Al Hammadi, the Minister of Education, said that continuing with remote learning programmes will be the safest option for students and staff during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
For students and staff who will attend campus classes and visit necessary facilities, health and safety protocols will be in place to protect them.
The announcement came after Al Hammadi attended a virtual meeting with higher education institutions to discuss their operational plan for the 2020/2021 academic year.
"In light of the current health situation, we decided that the priority of education in universities should be remote for lectures. Personal attendance will restricted to a limited number of staff and students, whose presence in practical and research laboratories, clinical training and examinations is required," he said.
"We have adopted a combination of distance education and education on campus as it is the safest option for our continuing education," the Minister of Education continued.
Private and public schools across the UAE will reopen on August 30, with mixed learning, a maximum cap of students attending classrooms, and safety measures to reduce risks.

Face masks are mandatory for all students and staff who will attend in-class sessions.
In addition, the ministry said that Dubai and Abu Dhabi school pupils can choose distance learning for the first term of the new academic year.

"Parents have been allowed to freely choose between their children's mode of attendance, face to face at school or through distance learning, for the first term, to achieve stability within the school community and to ensure the safety of our students, while meeting the requirements of physical distancing," said in the statement.
