Speed Limit Increased for Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road in Abu Dhabi

If you’re the kind of person who goes on road trips just to enjoy the drive there, a petrolhead looking for a place to clean your exhaust while driving, or even if you drive between Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia frequently , you will be delighted at the latest announcement from the Abu Dhabi Police .

The maximum speed limit on Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road from Mafraq Bridge to Ghuwafat has been increased to 160 km/hr for light motor vehicles. According to the Abu Dhabi Police, all the speed radars on the road have been set to capture cars from 161 km/hr onwards.

Originally it was announced that the speed limit on this newly opened international highway would be 140 km/h with speed cameras catching vehicles from 141 km/h. This has however changed with the new speed limit of 160km/h coming into effect as of January 24th, 2018.

This is one of the most important roads in the emirates as it connects the UAE to neighbouring countries. This road is expected to enhance the social, environmental and economic developments among bordering countries.

We are all very excited about the new speed limit but remember to remain safe on the road . Stop frequently to rest and always be vigilant while driving.

Remember, just because you can drive fast, doesn’t necessarily mean that you should.
